Traditions

One School. Many Traditions.

Traditions bring the whole school together, from Bulldog Bonding, pep rallies, and class competitions to Halloween, Maple Sugaring and Sap Boiling Day, and Homecoming and Fall Festival, we celebrate our community.

Traditions Keep Us Together

Bulldog Bonding
Bulldog Bonding brings students and faculty across divisions together in groups that stay connected throughout the year. As Lower School students move across campus for library, art, lunch, and other parts of the day, they often run into their Bulldog Bonding friends from other divisions. Hellos, high-fives, and hugs become part of everyday life at Bancroft.

Homecoming and Fall Festival
Homecoming and Fall Festival bring the whole Bancroft community together for a day of school spirit, connection, games, activities, and Bulldog pride.

Pep Rallies
Bancroft pep rallies bring students, faculty, teams, and fans together to celebrate Bulldogs across campus.

Halloween
Halloween at Bancroft is an all-school tradition, and we do not take it lightly. Costumes, creativity, and community come together in one of the most anticipated days of the year.

Maple Sugaring and Sap Boiling Day
Maple Sugaring and Sap Boiling Day brings a classic New England tradition right onto campus. Students gather on the playground to tap trees, watch the sap boil, and share in one of the sweetest days of the year.

Grandparents and Special Friends Day
Students welcome grandparents and special friends to campus for a day that celebrates connection across generations.

Middle School Houses
Middle School students are part of Houses named for Worcester’s seven hills. The House system creates friendly competition, connection, and a sense of belonging during the Middle School years.

Upper School Mountain Day
Mountain Day is one of Bancroft’s most anticipated Upper School traditions. Built around surprise, class competition, teamwork, and a full day at Mount Wachusett, students spend the day competing, collaborating, hiking, performing, and cheering each other on through activities that change from year to year but always center on school spirit and shared experience.

Class Competitions
Students compete by class, cheer each other on, and build the kind of spirit that carries across grades.

Senior Sunrise and Breakfast
The senior class gathers at Indian Lake to watch the sunrise together before walking to campus to share a faculty-hosted breakfast that marks the start of their final year.
