Worcester as our Classroom

Worcester Extends the Classroom

Bancroft students learn on a 34-acre campus with green space, playing fields, a field house, art galleries, and dedicated spaces for science, math, design, and the arts. Just beyond campus, Worcester adds another layer to the learning experience.

Students do not have to go far to see how what they are learning connects to the world around them.

Our Green Campus in a City of Possibility

Bancroft offers the best of both worlds: room to run, play, gather, study, create, and compete on campus, with the resources of Worcester close by.

Museums, theaters, colleges and universities, medical institutions, local organizations, and technology, biotech, and business opportunities are all part of the larger learning landscape.

What Worcester Makes Possible

The city gives students places to ask better questions, meet people doing meaningful work, and connect classroom learning to real history, real institutions, and real opportunities.

History Close to Home

Students study national movements through Worcester’s streets, rivers, buildings, and communities.

Learning Beyond Campus

Field trips and partnerships connect students to museums, theaters, colleges, and medical institutions.

Opportunities Nearby

Senior Co-Op gives students access to real-world experiences in the region they know.

Grade 6

Worcester-Based U.S. History

In Grade 6, students study U.S. History through the lens of Worcester. They explore how the city connects to the Industrial Revolution, the Blackstone River, the women’s rights movement, abolition, immigration, regional geography, and current events.

By using a familiar city as part of the curriculum, students see that history is not something that only happened somewhere else. It happened here, too.

Senior Co-Op, Close to Home

By senior year, students are ready to take what they have learned into the broader community. Through Senior Co-Op, Bancroft students explore professional settings and future interests in fields such as health, education, media, technology, business, and the arts.

Being in Worcester means many of those opportunities are close to campus and connected to the city students already know.
