Meet Anna Ortiz ’97 | Visual Artist
From Worcester to Worlds of Memory and Imagination
Anna Ortiz ’97 is a Mexican-American painter whose work moves between memory, mythology, landscape, and imagination.
Raised in Worcester and now based in Brooklyn, Anna spent much of her childhood visiting family in Guadalajara, Mexico, where she studied art with her grandfather, a portrait painter, and her aunt, a sculptor. Today, her vivid, surreal paintings have been shown in galleries across the country and recognized through fellowships and residencies including Yaddo, the Golden Foundation, Vermont Studio Center, and NYFA.
At Bancroft, learning doesn’t sit still. For Anna Ortiz ’97, it continues on canvas.
