Performing Arts
At Bancroft, the performing arts give students the opportunity to create, collaborate, and connect with an audience. From their first time on stage to leading a production, students develop confidence, creativity, and the skills to bring ideas to life. Whether they are acting, singing, designing sets, running lights, or managing sound, every student can have a role to play.
Learning Doesn’t Sit Still. Neither Should Your Story.
At Bancroft School, students begin building skills early. Lower School performances introduce young learners to the excitement of being on stage, working as a team, and sharing their talents with an audience. By fifth grade, students take part in a full-scale production that showcases both their growth and their confidence.
In Middle School, students explore scenes and short plays before collaborating on a fully staged seventh- and eighth-grade production.
Upper School students deepen their skills through acting and technical theater courses and two major productions each year: a fall play and a spring musical. On stage and behind the scenes, students take increasing ownership of the work and discover what they can create together.

Meet Lilly ’26
Aspiring Sports Journalist
At Bancroft, Lilly found more than one way to use her voice. A devoted singer, she belts out a song whenever she can, both in Bancroft’s chorus and with Handel & Haydn Youth Society. She also serves up strong performances on the tennis court as the team’s captain.
A “Speechie”, she’s travelled across the state and to Nationals. For her Senior Co-Op, Lily combined her love of sports and storytelling during an internship at 98.5 The Sports Hub, bringing her one step closer to her goal of studying sports journalism in college.
Meet Kat ’14
From Bancroft Stage Manager to the World Cup Stage
Kat Landry Elkin ’14 started stage managing at Bancroft.
Now, she’s helping manage some of the biggest live events in the world.
Kat, a Bancroft Young Alumni Award recipient, is serving as the Senior Show Delivery Manager for FIFA for the LA Opening and the Final in NYNJ.
“I’m the Sr Show Delivery Manager for FIFA for the LA Opening and the Final in NYNJ,” Kat shared. “It’s a big job and I’m honestly loving it. The Final is going to be insane because we’ll have Closing Ceremonies, a Halftime Show, and the Trophy and Awards.”
From Bancroft productions to the World Cup stage, Kat’s story is a pretty incredible reminder that what students try here can keep moving long after graduation.
At Bancroft, learning doesn’t sit still. Sometimes, it starts backstage.
